All-New Atom 12 Title: The All-New Atom #12
Writer: Gail Simone
Artist: Mike Norton
Publisher: DC

What a wonderfully weird issue. In this issue, the protagonist Ryan Choi returns to Ivy Town from Hong Kong, save himself and some people from an anagram-quoting robot who’s head is missing, goes to his welcome back party where there’s a giant drunk head, fight some old Atom rogues, and meets the Atom’s most famous enemy, Chronos.

I imagine this issue and the series to be like a wild boat ride through It’s A Small World where the whole time you can’t help but ask yourself, “What hell is goin’ on!?” Now, I’ve only read the trade, All-New Atom Vol. 1: My Life in Minature, and this issue but I’m already really impressed. This is the best stuff I’ve read from Simone as she does a damn job balancing humor, action, and weirdness and Norton’s pretty good too.

To discuss.
