A rarity. An actual perfect score from yours truly {nomultithumb}

The team of Palmiotti and Gray are spinning a wild and bizarre tale in this series from IDW. Random people are continuing to show up on the island resort that has more “dead” secrets than thirty years of the Kennedy Compound. Palmiotti and Gray also give us there trademark subtle humor, but in a brighter shade of black. The toilet stall moment is hilarious in a very morbid way. I highly suggest picking this up and checking it out. I’m not saying that a lot of this hasn’t been seen before, it has, but these folks are putting their own spin on it and weaving a fun tale. My Score: B

I’m still on the fence with this series. The concept is understandable, and I’m not against Tim’s desperate need to believe Bruce is still alive. It’s the execution that has me scratching my head; which surprises me since I’ve become a big fan of Chris Yost. I will say that the way Dick was written in this issue was way off. I was reminded of Chuck Dixon’s issue of Nightwing where he and Tim, as Robin, spend the night cementing their bond as brothers. For some reason all of that has been thrown out with the bathwater. I’m hoping with the revelation in the cave is the turning point in the return of the one true Batman, because without Bruce, the Bat Universe still feels like there’s a huge whole in it. My Score: C-

Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Exodusda-uxmexodus.jpg

It’s no secret that I have spent the last couple of years worshipping at the altar of Geoff and Gail, but the conclusion to this piece of Dark Reign has given Matt a place on that altar. This is the X-Men at their very best. Mr. Fraction gives every major player their moment in the sun, but he really shows us that Scott Summers is now more than a leader of a band of heroes. He’s the King of the Mutants! I really hope Fraction stays on these X-books for a lot longer because it’s been years since I’ve been proud to shout that I love those war torn mutants! Hell, he’s even gotten me to appreciate Emma Frost! This was Marvel’s best non-space story so far this year. My Score: A+
