Michael Holt is Mister Terrific... but is his comic Terrific? Here's your answer...

Before the big revamp, Michael Holt was a member of the Justice Society of America. Now, he's playing it solo. Does his comic make the grade?
Marvel Reviewer: Comic Doctor
Mister Terrific is another DC character I know very little about, so DCnU's new Mister Terrific #1 is a perfect platform for Eric Wallace and Gianluca Gugliotta to capture my imagination.
I found the concept of Michael Holt being the third smartest person alive an interesting one. He's used his brilliance to amass many degrees, win an Olympic gold medal, built the successful Holt Industries, and become a superhero. Eric Wallace did a nice job recapping Mister Terrific's origin in one page, plus showing MT using his powers very early on.
Very much like a Batman or Iron Man character, Michael seems to have a bit more of an ordinary outlook on life – a bit like an 'everyman' type. When a man named Edgar Holowitz suddenly becomes brilliant, cold and evil, Michael is drawn to find out how this came to be, and why. Before we know it, Michael himself seems transformed like Mr. Holowitz, and goes about trying to kill Senator Gonzalez.
The art in Mister Terrific #1 is okay, but not the style I typically like. Gugliotta's storytelling is solid, but the faces he draws seem distorted far too often. The inks and colors work well, but they don't seem to improve upon the pencils themselves.
I'm intrigued by the story so far, and I'm sure I'll give issue #2 a try to see where things go. For the DCnU to get me to buy the next issue, I consider that a minor success.

About the Author - SuperginraiX
SuperginraiX is the biggest sap on The Outhousers' payroll (wait, we get paid?). He reads every issue of every crappy Marvel crossover so you don't have to. Whats worse is that he pays for his books, thus condoning Marvel's behavior. If The Outhouse cared for his well being at all, they'd try and get him into some sort of rehab center. But, alas, none of us even know how to say his name. For a good time, ask Super why Captian America jumped off the Helicarrier in Fear Itself. Super lives in the frozen wastland that is Minnesota with 15% of the state's population living under his roof: a wife he makes wear an Optimus Prime mask, two gremlins, and his mother-in-law.
