JLA #27(1999)
Batman, Superman, and Martian Manhunter discuss the possibility of expanding the JLA. Meanwhile, Amazo awakes with abilities of the current JLA roster. Mark Millar did a good job with the story, though there a few weak points. Still, his handling of Amazo and Ray Palmer is great. Mark Parjarillo depicts the story well, but that's about it. There's nothing eye catching about it. With a little more polish, this would be a classic.

Ultimate X-Men #1(2001)
In the debut issue of Ultimate X-Men, by Mark Millar and Adam Kubert, Jean Grey convinces some mutants to join Xavier's Institute for Gifted Children. Later on, the X-Men try to rescue Bobby Drake from a Sentinel attack. Millar's writing is solid. Kubert has some great line work and his layouts are solid.

Ultimate X-Men #2(2001)
In this issue ,by Mark Millar and Adam Kubert, Wolverine gets captured by operatives of Weapon X. The X-Men attempt to rescue him, but they don't know that Wolverine has sinister motives of his own. The writing is filled with Millar's writing quality(for better or worse). Adam Kubert delivers another good showing, on the art front. The splash page of the Blackbird flying pass the Statue of Liberty looks cool and his layouts are sharp.
