Imelda May - Mayhem
- Written by Jeremy Shane on Monday, September 12 2011 and posted in Reviews
With a blend of rockabilly, blues, country and rock Imelda May's third album 'Mayhem' hits all the right notes.
If hearing what an Irish rockabilly singer can come up with sounds interesting to you then you have the same feeling I did when I came across her work. Good rockabilly has always had a place in my heart and her latest album definitely qualified.
Mayhem:
The title track Mayhem is strong, but one of my favorite songs on the album had to be 'Johnny got a boom boom'.
Johnny Got A Boom Boom:
Their cover of Tainted Love is probably my new favorite version of that song. The rest of the songs stand strong on their own as well, 'Pulling The Rug', 'Let Me Out'... it would be hard for me to pick and choose more favorites.
Tainted Love (live):
Any music lovers that are into rockabilly/swing sound I'd highly recommend picking this album up.
