First Image from 'Batman: The Killing Joke' Animated Movie!!

Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Tara Strong reprise their roles from Batman: The Animated Series to tackle the Alan Moore and Brian Bolland Batman story, and we've got the first image from the movie!

Oh sure they've been teasing us for months now, but today FINALLY Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill made it official to CBR (wait they do that now?) that they'd be reprising their roles as Batman and the Joker for this animated movie adaptation of the Grant MorrisonAlan Moore written and Brian Bolland penciled story.

But they aren't the only Batman: The Animated Series alum whose in the voice cast. Reprising her role as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl is Tara Strong (she took over the role in Season 3 aka the "Kids WB" season and she had recently reprised the role in Beware the Batman). Given the fact that Barbara never suited up in the story, it stands to reason this is one of the angles the animated adaptation will be expanding that Bruce Timm promised. It'll be truly curious to see just how faithful the movie will go, and what sort of controversy it'll stir amongst fans for how far it'll adapt the story.

Rounding out the voice cast is Ray Wise (Robocop, Twin Peaks, the TV show Reaper, the man has been everywhere and is awesome) as Commissioner James Gordon. Now if the voice cast announcement wasn't enough we've got a first image to go with all of this (posted by Mark Hamill himself):

We'll probably be getting the trailer to the movie later this month when Justice League vs. Teen Titans is released on Blu Ray, DVD, and Digital March 29th (or maybe they'll reveal it at C2E2 this weekend.. NAH!!! It'll probably debut at WonderCon March 25-27th which is when that particular DC animated movie will be premiering at the con. Or more than likely when someone leaks it online).

Not surprisingly, the movie will premiere at SDCC this year (July 21-24, and if I would be a betting man I'd lay odds it'll be Friday the 22nd or Saturday the 23rd it'll happen), with the movie being released on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital shortly thereafter. So probably late July, early August.
