'Wolfenstein: The New Order' Game Impressions & Screenshots

Gameplay impressions and screenshots from Wolfenstein demo shows off this alternate reality Nazi world.

Gamespot recently got some time with MachineGames for a look at the new First Person Shooter, Wolfenstein: The New Order.

As you can tell from the trailer, our protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz wasn't able to save the world from the Nazi's in previous Wolfenstein games.  A new timeline has been created by the Nazi victory and it's now the 1960's.  B.J. washed up on the shores of the Baltic Sea after a mission goes bad during the war and has no memory of who he is, finding himself at home in an insane asylum.

Your introduction to the world comes when you see the Nazi's have no love for the mentally ill and come to purge the asylum.  A nurse, Anya, helps you escape and join the resistance.  Though the resistance will play a role throughout the game, you are essentially on your own in more ways than one as MachineGames has moved away from multi-player modes.  This may concern players of previous Wolfenstein games that enjoyed the popular multi-player modes, but others are content for the focus to stay on the single player campaign.  Quality of either single or multi-player modes tend to fall as the other grows, and MachineGames has already made the choice of which will survive here.

Check out the article at Gamespot for detailed breakdown of half a dozen scenes they experienced at the demo as well as more screenshots and concept art from the game.
