Though Marvel tried to get in on the Oz action in July with The Emerald City of Oz, Zenescope proved to be the kings of Fairy Tale fiction for the month, beating them out with the debute of Oz #1 and selling out of their initial 30,000 copy print run. A second printing has been ordered for immediate release, and it is still available digitally on Comixology.
I'm very happy that so many retailers and fans have taken a chance on this book. I hope they’re enjoying reading it as much as I am writing it. We've been planning this series for such a long time and it's great to have a successful launch after having put so much work into it. We're looking forward to publishing more Oz series and continuing to expand the Grimm Universe. - Zenescope President and series writer, Joe Brusha.
In a crowded market where a variety of media has been taking advantage of the open rights of classic fairy tale characters, Zenescope has staked out a name for themselves with Neverland, Grimm Fairy Tales, Wonderland, and now Oz. At SDCC they revealed to us that Grimm Fairy Tales and Wonderland would be crossing over near the end of the year as well as the Zenescope Universe continues to grow.
