Source: Press Release
After laying low and allowing their Distinguished Competition to self-destruct last week, Marvel made some noise this morning with a press release touting All-New Marvel NOW!, the second wave of their Marvel NOW! soft reboot / relaunch / renumbering / biblical continuity jamboree / whatever-the-fuck-it-is. Besides featuring estranged DC writer James Robinson on an All-New Invaders series and the highly anticipated Inhuman (is this the same thing as Inhumanity? We need some interns to figure this shit out. APPLY TODAY!) by Matt Fraction and Joe Madureira (for at least three issues, we're sure), Marvel dropped a digital bombshell, announcing that "Select .NOW! titles will also come with a digital code for the entire first collection of that series ABSOLUTELY FREE!"
What is a .NOW title? It's a regular series title with .NOW tacked onto the issue number. Like Avengers #24.NOW. Don't think too hard about it. Your brain might explode.
The Outhouse applauds Marvel for using digital comics in an innovative way to get readers more invested in their series. Now if you'd just strip that useless, antiquated DRM off your digital books and stop punishing your paying customers to spite non-paying pirates, then we'd really be getting somewhere. But good first step.
Here's the full press release, along with some nifty covers:
