At the Archie Comics panel at New York Comic Con this weekend, the company announced a new miniseries by creator Michael Uslan titled Farewell Betty and Veronica. Reportedly, the two longtime Archie love interests will be replaced with two new characters. We have no idea whether this will be a permanent change, but it is always amusing to observe Archie, with its 1950s sensibilities, attempt to replicate the cash-grabbing gimmick publishing of the modern superhero comics industry. Sometimes, they do so to great success, as with Afterlife with Archie (which the Outhouse called 'an instant classic in the making'), the Archie zombie comic which has been burning up the sales charts and earned a second printing.
Speaking of Afterlife with Archive, here's a trailer for the comic:
The Beat has full coverage of the panel., including another trailer for Dean Haspiel and Mark Waid's Archie superhero revival, The Fox.
