It has been reported that Lou Scheimer passed away on October 17, 2013 just two days shy of his birthday (October 19, 1928).
Scheimer, along with animator Hal Sutherland and Executive Producer Norm Prescott formed Filmation Associates (now defunct) an animation production company in 1963. If you are not that familiar with animation, surely you might have heard of some of their well-known animated productions such as The Batman/Superman Hour, The Archie Show, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, Star Trek: The Animated Series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, She-Ra: Princess of Power, and BraveStarr. Filmation also had a hand in several live-action shows like Ark II, The Sercrets of Isis, Space Academy, and Jason of Star Command.
He served as executive producer on many of the cartoons af Filmation, and is reported to have been proactive in having He-Man be produced at Filmation; even providing the voice of Orko. Scheimer also provided the narration on some of the live action productions and did other voicework for the company (eg. Dumb Donald on Fat Albert).
At this time, the cause of death is unknown, but he did have quadruple bypass surgery and was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in the 1990s.
