The comics blogosphere exploded with a flurry of activity this morning, after Marvel released a new poster for the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie. With websites languishing due to a lack of post-NYCC news, editors for all the major news websites were quick to exploit the poster to help prop up their falling hits numbers.
ComicBookResources lined up EXCLUSIVE interviews with the designer of the poster, the principal photographer and the intern who photoshopped a little jet in the bottom left of the poster. Newsarama unveiled two new Top Ten lists, one counting down the top things they liked about the poster (Number Three was that Captain America's shield makes an appearance) and the other pointing out what they felt was missing from the promotional still (Number Six is that there's no title for the movie on the poster). Comics Alliance has yet to publish an article about the poster, but it's believed they'll get around to it before the end of next week.
Meanwhile, rumor sites Bleeding Cool and Latino Review took turns taking credit for the poster's debut. "I stole this from Kevin Feige after he tried to assassinate me....with a knife. KEEPING SCORE!" proclaimed Latino Review's paranoid El Mayimbe.
"Wot, wot, I predicted this here poster would be coming out, right I did," countered Rich Johnston. "Way back in 2011."
The Outhouse used the poster as an opportunity to rehash tired jokes and make up silly quotes, before posting a picture of the poster at the bottom of the article:
