On Friday, we ran that Toonami would be airing Space Dandy on January 4th. Well it appears, possibly that might not be happening. As some might have noticed, the debut date they posted, January 4th, has since been removed from both the intial post and video. Instead, it's been replaced with "coming soon". Interestingly, the 11:30 pm EST expansion to Toonami, which was to air the anime supposedly still remains.
Instantly, fans went straight to the source on why the change, and asked Jason DeMarco himself via Twitter and he gave them an answer:
@ShardShinjuku Was our bad, the start date is not 100% Jan 4th. We'll have a firm date very soon. That's all, no big conspiracy.— LICH KING DEMARCO (@Clarknova1) October 25, 2013
@ShardShinjuku Yes, exact episode count is not fully settled yet. That too will come a bit later. It's still several months away from air.— LICH KING DEMARCO (@Clarknova1) October 25, 2013
Not soon after he also began revealing other details that would be happening with the block including the return of a much beloved anime:
@ToonamiNews We'll have a new lineup promo, AND a game review tomorrow night. And of course, FLCL returns.— LICH KING DEMARCO (@Clarknova1) October 26, 2013
So there you have folks. Now when the true release date of Space Dandy is revealed we'll let you know and any other details Toonami releases. Until then we leave you with the ending of the show FLCL will be replacing...
