Source: Marcia Wallace, Star of ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ and Voice of Mrs. Krabappel, Dies at 70
Variety is reporting that Marcia Wallace passed away this past Friday with no details on what was the cause. Wallace is best remembered as the voice of feisty grade-school teacher Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons, though she's also best remembered as receptionist Carol Kester from the Bob Newhart Show. She was 70 and a week shy of turning 71, her birthday being on November 1st.
Though, she was best known for her voice work as Mrs. Krabappel (yes Edna finally got married to Ned Flanders. Geez I haven't watched an entire season in awhile. When the diddly did that happen?) she has done other voice work in the past. Most notably as Clovis/Mrs. Cavanaugh from Darkwing Duck, Aladdin (animated tv show, not the animated movie or direct to DVD ones), playing an actor in the episode "Mudslide" on Batman: The Animated Series, Camp Candy, and Wheeler's Mother on Captain Planet & the Planeteers.
