Millennium Falcon May Appear in Star Wars Ep. VII

Your daily Star Wars rumor is brought to you courtesy of that old bucket of bolts, the Millennium Falcon.

It is probably one of the most recognizable ships from Star Wars, so it makes sense that Disney would want to see it used in a new round of movies.  Gotta move some product after all.

According to sources close to the production, the Millennium Falcon has already been built as a full size 1:1 scale set.  It was built off-site before Pinewood Studios was available and then moved in as soon as Star Wars got the studio.

There have been rumors of set designing for the new Star Wars movie since January, so it is certainly possible they could have begun work on elements they were sure would appear.  It certainly sounds like a lot of work to build off-site then move everything, but with the time crunch they will be under to get this movie out in 2015 it may have been necessary.

One question that comes to mind is why use such a grandiose set, when CGI seems to be the way of movies lately?  Is JJ Abrams hoping to move away from overly heavy use of computer effects and make better use of miniatures and real sets alongside CGI?  Could this set see future use in spin-off movies or even tv shows in the future?  Of course, it could also be set up in a theme park once shooting is finished, I've heard Disney has one or two of those around.

The only answers we have now are silence from Bad Robot and Disney on the matter, with no official statement on the rumors.
