"Well, there was a lot of breathing room in the comics between them,” says Kirkman. “Whether or not we have the same amount of breathing room, or if we do cut that down a little bit and bring him into the show a little early remains to be seen. But I definitely do think there needs to be some kind of space from a Governor into a Negan. You have to have something of a break in there. So I wouldn’t expect him to be showing up — definitely not in season 4. I don’t know. I wouldn’t expect it too soon. But we are all very excited about the prospect of bringing that guy into the show. The plan is that we will see him eventually.”
After this exciting bit of news, we sat down with Robert Kirkman for this exclusively fake interview to dig deeper.
The Outhouse: So Robert, does this mean that the tv show is loosely based on the comic book and that the characters Rick, Michonne, and the others are the very same?
Robert Kirkman: Well, yes. I thought everyone knew this. We've taken a different path from the comics, but the show is definitely inspired by it.
OH: Wait, everyone already knows this?
RK: For the most part I'd assume.
OH: Then why is the fact that Negan will appear in the show at some point in the future news?
RK: Got me? I just thought maybe it was a slow news day.
OH: That's always a safe assumption. Thanks for your time.
It's a shocking bit of news I know, but apparently, we can expect to see storylines from the comic book the show is following actually be part of future episodes and seasons.
