Though fans might be disappointed that Star Wars: The Clone Wars was cut short without a "final" season to clear up any lingering loose plots and bring closure to the series, Dark Horse will rectify that with Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir, a series that adapts what was intended to be the series finale for the show. Newsarama broke the story with an interview with the writer for the mini-series, Jeremy Barlow (an artist has yet to be named).
The plot for the mini will include Maul's fate after the Season Five episode "the Lawless", serve to expand on the Nightbrothers of Dathomir, and even introduce a new character named Brother Viscus. Here's what Barlow teased the mini would entail (again via his interview on Rama):
Barlow: That’s one of my favorite aspects of writing Star Wars—there’s no end to the varied and imaginative locations you can create.
In this story, we start at that secret prison carved out of massive obsidian blocks and from there we bounce to the harsh moon of Zanbar, hit the Black Sun stronghold on Ord Mantell, and finally make our way to Dathomir, which is as dark and dangerous a place as you can get.
No word if Barlow will bring in Mother Talzin, the Nightsister who helped bring Maul back, Sidious, or any of the other Clone Wars characters. Again, Darth Maul: Son of Dathonmir is set for a release sometime in May. We'll keep you updated as more information is learned.
