Last week, we reported on rumors that Paul Levitz had walked off the Earth 2 super-mega-crossover weekly event comic World's End due to editorial disagreements. Though neither Levitz nor DC has commented publicly on the matter, things got stranger today when DC sent out their August solicitations, announcing World's Finest as canceled with #26.
WORLD’S FINEST #26
Written by PAUL LEVITZ
Art and cover by TYLER KIRKHAM
On sale AUGUST 13 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T • FINAL ISSUE
Power Girl and Huntress return to Earth 2 just when their homeworld needs them most!
However, shortly thereafter, ComicVine announced that the book was... um... uncanceled:
"We just heard from DC. WORLDS' FINEST is not ending. Hopefully they get the word out to all the other outlets they sent the solicits to."
Sure enough, CBR has also updated their solicitations to remove the "Final Issue" text. So what's going on? Is this related to the rumors of Levitz's departure? Perhaps the book will be carrying on with a new creative team? The information is bound to come out eventually, and when it does, we're sure it won't be flattering for DC. It never is.
Unfortunately, until then, we have to hold off on pulling that counter trigger until someone confirms... something. Anyone at DC wanna spill the beans? Get in touch! We'll keep your name out of it.
