They settle for Jack Quaid instead.

Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson had Simon Pegg in mind when they created
Hughie for The Boys, but unfortunately for the Amazon adaptation, they had to settle on Jack Quaid. After the death of his girlfriend by the superhero A-Train, Hughie is approached by a mysterious government agent named Billy Butcher to join the eponymous Boys to help police superhero activities. Joining him on the team will be Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk.

Facing off against Alonso and Quaid will be Antony Starr as Homelander, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, and Erin Moriarty as Starlight.

The Seven are the world famous superheroes that abuse their massive celebrity. In return, a group of vigilantes nicknamed The Boys keep the superheroes in check.

Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are set to direct, while Eric Kripke will write the pilot.
